Yoncalla Log Pond Project

Mill Site

North Douglas Betterment acquired the Yoncalla Log Pond in May of 2012 and is conducting a planning process to establish the optimal use of the property.

The first step of the process was the scoping phase where we inform people about the project and collect information and ideas that they have about the property.  Click here to view the scoping documentation.

We are now in the inventory/assessment phase where we identify the attributes and limitations of the property and we are actively seeking funding and support to acquire this information. We welcome any assistance that contributes to this inventory/assessment process.  To facilitate the collection of this information, numerous access trails have been opened including a loop trail around the large pond (View Current trail map). Also, a foot bridge has been installed to provide pond access from Main Street. Note: Students from the Yoncalla HS Environmental Science Class have been assisting with the inventory process.

Please submit any information or results to NDB.  The information gathered at this stage will be available to all interested parties who may want to submit a proposed development plan.

When this phase is completed NDB will review all of the proposed plans and choose the project plan that best meets the following evaluation criteria:  (1) emphasis on project quality; (2) improved utilization of the property; (3) acceptance by the community, (4) conformity to existing laws and regulations, and (5) financial sustainability.
