Eagles Forever\nYoncalla High School Reunion\nPlease RSVP here: https://forms.gle/vUKGiE1HW2urta6p6\nAlong with Mike Bendele and several other former teachers\, students and friends\, this event is a ONE-TIME reunion that we have titled: “Forever Eagles . . . Eagles Forever”.\nInitially\, we wanted to target the graduating classes of the late 1970’s\, 80’s and 90’s. These are the years in which we were working at Yoncalla High School as teachers and coaches. As we got deeper into the planning (we will have been organizing this for about a year and a half) it was becoming clear to us that other YHS graduates\, family and friends would have a natural interest in being in attendance.\nWe desire to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable . . . so we have expanded our class invitation to . . . ALL GRADUATING CLASSES . . . all YHS graduates . . . all teachers . . . all coaches . . . all staff . . . all family . . . and all friends!!\nWe are planning to hold the reunion at the YHS gym where we have scheduled slide show presentations (by the decade and about 30-45 minutes in length) beginning in the mid-1940’s to the present.\nWe are also setting up special YHS memorabilia displays that include scrapbooks\, athletic record boards\, and associated YHS clothing among other items of special school interest. With the remodeling of the school\, we have planned and scheduled guided school tours. We hope to attract as many former teachers and staff as we can and we will have a special reception area in the gym for them to greet their former students.\nThere will be a professional photographer present for group pictures that will also be available for purchase.\nT-shirts will also be available for purchase. More info to come.\nRV Parking\nThere will be organized RV parking on the lower athletic fields.\nBecause “Forever Eagles . . . Eagles Forever” is scheduled for August 5th and 6th\, the Yoncalla Summer Festival (organized and directed by David Adkisson) will also have planned their activities for this weekend. Down on Main Street\, the normal Festival activities will be happening\, including vendor booths\, festival activities and live music later on Saturday night. DESCRIPTION:Join us Thanksgiving weekend for Elkton’s annual Art & Wine Tour. The artist studios will not be open this year\, but Elkton still has plenty to offer. Here’s what you need to know:\nIt will be low-key. Expect social distancing and outdoor wine tasting. There’s no passport this year; instead of visiting as many sites as you can\, we encourage you to focus on a few and visit others online.\n\nThere will be art! In place of the studio tour\, local artists are joining a show in the Elkton Community Education Center (ECEC) library at 15850 Highway 38. The show will be open Friday and Saturday from 10-4 with prints\, cards and other items for sale. After Thanksgiving weekend you can view the show Tuesday-Thursday from 10-2 until December 17th.\n\nOur wineries are open. Lexème Winery and Bradley Vineyards will be open Friday-Sunday from 11-5. Brandborg Winery will be open Friday and Saturday only from 11-5 for tastings on the patio by appointment. Crew Work Wine is offering complimentary shipping for all orders over three bottles made Thanksgiving Weekend; visit www.elktonwineco.com.\n\nYou’ll still find one-of-a-kind gifts. There are three specialty shops with distinct styles in town. The newest is Attic Goblin\, specializing in antiques and eclectic collectibles at 300 River Road (one block south of Highway 38); they’ll be open Friday-Sunday 10-5. Farm Pickins Mercantile has an ever-changing collection of home goods and furniture\, with a focus on farmhouse décor\, industrial designs and local artisans. Don’t miss Jennifer Daelen Wolfe’s whimsical gnomes\, which are perfect for holiday decorating. Farm Pickins is open Friday-Sunday 9-5. ECEC’s Gift Shop features garden-themed gifts\, educational toys and a remarkable collection of rocks and crystals reflecting the center’s focus on environmental and heritage education Friday and Saturday only 10-4.\n\nYou’ll eat well. The holiday celebration starts early at Tomaselli’s Pastry Mill & Café. They are offering 10% off pre-ordered pies and dinner rolls before Thanksgiving. They will be open Thanksgiving morning until 1 pm with full breakfast service and a light lunch menu\, and on their regular schedule throughout the weekend. Arlene’s Café and General Store will be serving casual diner fare all three days. El Guerrero Azteca’s food cart is also open. Coffee drinks are available all weekend at Tomaselli’s and Farm Pickins\, and at the Elkton Station on Friday.\n\nDon’t want to leave home Thanksgiving weekend? You can enjoy a lot of what Elkton has to offer by shopping online. If you visit\, you’ll find other businesses are open too.
